Construction Progress Continues at Burnsville Police City Hall

Construction Rendering

Recently, CNH Architects joined members of the Burnsville City Council and Kraus-Anderson for a construction progress tour of the new Burnsville Police City Hall. With each visit, the building continues to take shape, and this latest tour revealed just how far the project has come.

Since our previous walkthrough, significant strides have been made across the site. What was once only structural members is now quickly transitioning into a fully realized building. Spaces are becoming more defined, and the overall vision is coming into focus as each phase wraps up.

A key priority in the design of Burnsville Police City Hall was durability – selecting materials that will stand the test of time and support the demands of a high-use civic facility. It is exciting to see many of these materials now being installed. From wall systems to flooring, each element was thoughtfully chosen not only for its performance but also for its ability to contribute to the overall aesthetic.

With paint and other finishes now being applied, the building is beginning to “pop.” Colors, textures, and finishes add depth and character to the spaces, transforming them from construction zones into welcoming, functional environments. It’s at this stage that the design intent is truly starting to shine through.

One standout feature that drew plenty of attention during the tour was the countertops. Their design and finish created a strong visual impression, with several attendees noting how they elevated the overall look and feel of key spaces.

Beyond countertops, there were many other highlights that sparked excitement, including:

  • Lighting elements that add both function and visual interest
  • Flooring selections that balance durability with design
  • Wall treatments and patterns that enhance the building’s identity

Each of these details contributes to a cohesive environment that reflects the importance of the facility while supporting those who use it every day.

As construction continues, it is rewarding to see the collaboration between the City, Kraus-Anderson, and the design team come to life in tangible ways.

We look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses and continues to take shape.

BURNSVILLE FIRE STATION NO. 1

CNH’s largest fire station to date, the City of Burnsville’s Fire Station No. 1 is home to a crew of all full-time firefighters and more than 44,000 SF with 10 apparatus bays. Firefighter safety was one of nine top priorities for the station. Multiple contamination zones and a designated de-contamination area will allow firefighters to keep contaminated equipment and clothing in the apparatus bay until decontaminated. Another priority in the design was firefighter mental health. A warning system that slowly ramps up with alert tones and lighting while only alerting responding staff ensures firefighters are not awoken in an abrupt manner. The station includes areas for relaxation with different lighting to promote natural sleep rhythms, as well as a yoga studio and meditation garden. Extensive firefighter training features including Firefighter 1 and advanced training elements are another highlight of the station.
