Legacy project: CDA building created for efficiency, enhanced since

The administrative offices for the Dakota County Community Development Agency were designed by CNH Architects in 2002 with energy efficiency in mind for the 30,000 square foot building.

The structure includes an open 2 ½ story atrium with clerestory windows to increase natural lighting. There are private and open offices, conference rooms and a welcoming area for client services. Natural ponding near the entryway cleans and controls stormwater runoff from the parking lot.

Over the past 17 years, three renovations improved space utilization. A fitness facility and lockers were added, as were features to increase security. The CDA also replaced the rooftop patio pavers, all while maintaining the aesthetics of the original design.

CNH provided the design, construction documents, bidding support and construction administration for the publicly bid projects.
