A new daycare facility designed by CNH Architects begins construction in August and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. With a licensed capacity of up to 140 children, Stone Brook Academy in Ramsey will be constructed just west of city hall.
This one-story building will be part of COR District of Ramsey, a highly active development area.
Plans call for two preschool rooms, two transition rooms, two toddler rooms, an infant room, gym, and support spaces such as an office, kitchen, and laundry. A playground and children’s garden enclosed by a decorative metal fence are also planned.
The building design is separated into three “main massing volumes” to provide interest and architectural detail. One has a gable roof, and two others each have a flat roof with a canopy to cover a drop-off zone for parents.
The gable roof was important to the owners to have so the building would resemble a home to provide a sense of comfort for the children, according to CNH.
The primary materials on the building are Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS), stone, and brick.
